Be part of the festivity ! Champlain is coming in Philipsburg !

His arrival is scheduled for Sunday August 23th at 10:30 am on the beach facing the park. Here are the events that Mrs Ginette Messier, town counsellor of Saint-Armand, has put together for that day.

  • Abenaki natives welcome Champlain
  • Champlain tells about his journey to the lake at the Abenaki’s Camp

  • Champlain pays a visit to the Loyalist House
  • Noon
  • Corn roast
  • Bannock bread tasting at the Abenaki wigwam

1-3 pm

  • Display and selling of art objects from the First Nations

1 pm

  • Discussion between Champlain, author Philippe Fournier and Charles Lussier, geographer

2 pm

  • Champlain meets with repre-sentatives of La Corporation Bassin Versant Baie Missisquoi

3 pm

  • Champlain pays a last visit to the Abenakis who will tell him a legend

3:30 pm

  • Champlain leaves Philipsburg

  • Abenaki songs and entertainment

A rally will give participants the opportunity to discover the wildlife of Missisquoi Bay and test your knowledge of the history of the region.

Mr Philippe Fournier, author of Les Seigneuries du lac Champlain, and Mr Charles Lussier, geographer will await people to discuss with them

As a souvenir for your participation in this celebration, you will have the opportunity to have your picture taken

A picnic area will be available on site.
